G30 Lianhuo Expressway – Hami to Tuyugou Section

Yiwanguan Service Area Public Restroom Vacuum Drainage Project

Located on the G30 Lianhuo Expressway Hami-Tuyugou section, Yiwanguan Service Area is a key transportation node along the route. Highway service areas see heavy daily traffic and high visitor volumes, with public restrooms under frequent use — placing significant demands on water supply reliability, environmental hygiene, and facility operational stability.

To improve the restroom environment and reduce water consumption during operation, both the south and north zones of Yiwanguan Service Area adopted JUCHUAN Environmental vacuum drainage systems. Each zone is equipped with one system, for a total of two VACS 2000 vacuum drainage systems, providing centralized and stable wastewater collection and discharge for the service area’s public restrooms.

The project deployed 84 vacuum squat pans and 12 vacuum drain lifting units. Vacuum squat pans use air combined with a small amount of flushing water to convey waste, significantly reducing water consumption per flush compared to traditional gravity-drain fixtures. For a high-traffic public facility like Yiwanguan Service Area, long-term operation can substantially lower overall restroom water demand, ease water supply pressure, and better suit the relatively water-scarce conditions of the Xinjiang region.

In addition, the vacuum drainage system rapidly collects and conveys wastewater through sealed pipes, helping to reduce wastewater retention, odor spread, and sanitary dead spots — keeping the public restrooms cleaner and fresher. The higher conveying velocity within the pipes also lowers the likelihood of sediment buildup and blockages, improving the operational reliability of the sanitation facilities.

The vacuum pump station for this project features a dual-vacuum-pump, dual-sewage-pump configuration with a 2000L vacuum tank, meeting peak-hour concentrated usage demands while enhancing system reliability. Necessary vibration-damping and noise-reduction measures were also implemented to minimize the impact of operating noise on the service area environment.

The implementation of the Yiwanguan Service Area vacuum drainage project achieved water conservation, improved sanitation, and enhanced facility quality — all while maintaining normal restroom operations. It provides a new technical pathway for water-saving and hygienic public restroom construction at highway service areas in the Xinjiang region.
